Day 76 - Sleeeep

Ugh, today was exhausting. Had dance practice again today. They told us to come in costume, so I got there early and changed. First time putting on Yukata all on my own. It was really hard. But when I got there, pretty much no one was in costume. It was so embarrassing. I was really upset for a while. But then some other people showed up, and I felt a little less stupid. Still, it's really upsetting to be the one foreign looking person dressed in yukata in a group of modern-dressed Japanese people. There was a group of highschool students touring campus and they all stared at me. :(

Practice itself wasn't too bad, but it was freaking hot. Today was supposed to be cooler because of the rain, but it wasn't any cooler inside. So I was stuck, in uncomfortable clothes, super hot, and had to dance in front of a bunch of people I felt were laughing at me. Japan is making me super self-conscious. I was bad enough before, but all these staring eyes is even worse.

I got back home today, and almost immediately went to sleep. Sooooo tired. Slept until almost 8, had dinner, and watched volleyball again with the host family. Japan won! I guess that means they're going to the London Olympics? Horay! The first set was really close, but after that Japan pretty much dominated.

Rie, mama's other daughter, who lives elsewhere with her husband, stopped by today. She brought creme puffs! But instead of the like, fluffy bread that it usually comes in, this was almost a cookie. SOooooooo good. I love a lot of Japanese pastry. They take classic things and change them up. I think this is my favorite thing so far. But that's about it. Missing practice tomorrow to go to Kamakura. I guess there's an island we're going to (I thought we were already on an island?), and the sea is just beautiful.
